Scott Thomas Hawkins

Roseville, California - It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the sudden passing of Scott Thomas Hawkins, who was taken from us far too soon at the age of 41, on October 9th, 2023 in Roseville, CA. Scott was born in Merced, CA on April 22nd, 1982 and attended Hoover Middle School and Golden Valley High School, where he graduated in 2000. Scott was a remarkable athlete and had a passion for sports. He excelled in soccer and basketball, playing on his high school teams, and continued to pursue his love for sports by joining adult teams. He attended Merced Junior College before earning his BA degree in Criminal Justice from CSU Stanislaus in 2010. During his time in Merced, he worked many years at DeAngelo's Restaurant. Since 2012, he has been a dedicated and admired employee at Youngs Market/RNDC in the greater Sacramento area. It was while working at DeAngelo's that Scott started dating the love of his life, Coby La Mattina, and they married on September 10th, 2011. Together, they were blessed with two beautiful children: Jace Thomas, 10, and Madelynn Rae, 5. Scott was a hands-on and loving father, and his children idolized him. He was actively involved in every aspect of his children's lives. He was more than just a dad; he was their hero and their role model. Weekends often found him engaged in activities with his kids and enjoying family gatherings. His children, Jace and Madelynn, found endless inspiration in their father's presence. He would do absolutely anything for them. For Jace, his father was not only a mentor but also his partner in many adventures. Scott's passion for sports was infectious, and he instilled in Jace a love for sports as well. Scott would often refer to Jace as his best friend. Jace had the privilege of witnessing firsthand what it meant to be a dedicated and loving father. Madelynn, too, shared a unique connection with her dad. Her eyes lit up in his presence, and her face would beam with delight when he walked through the door. Scott was her rock, always there to encourage and support her. He didn't just coach her soccer team, he was her biggest cheerleader. His nurturing spirit will ensure Madelynn grows up knowing the power of love. Scott was an extraordinary individual, leaving a lasting mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His calm demeanor, kindness, and generous nature endeared him to everyone he met. He excelled in his roles as a husband, father, son, brother, and friend, embodying the essence of greatness in each of these relationships Scott was the best of the best, and his absence leaves an immeasurable void in our hearts. He will be dearly missed and his memory will be cherished forever. He is survived by his loving wife, Coby, and their cherished children, Jace and Madelynn. He is also survived by his devoted parents, Nancy and Ron Hawkins, his siblings Heather Hamilton, Cally Hamilton, and Ronnie Hawkins. Additionally, he leaves behind a brother-in-law Erik Forsberg, and a host of nieces and nephews, who meant the world to him: Myles Hamilton, Forest Walker, Kira Forsberg, Easton Mackin, Quincey Hamilton, Akira Mason, Calix Hamilton and Kalea Hamilton. Scott is preceded in death by two other siblings, Libby Hamilton Forsberg and David 'Keat' Hamilton. A Celebration of Life will be held on January 8, 2024 at 11am at the Rocklin Event Center in Rocklin, CA.
