Lucretia Marie Lovisa

It is with deep sorrow and much love that the family of Lucretia Lovisa (Lu) announces her passing on February 3, 2024. She was 91. Lu was born on August 25, 1932 in Sacramento, California to her parents, Matilda Palmero and George Domich. She attended Catholic school at Immaculate Conception where she met her forever darling and future husband, Dino Lovisa. The two remained inseparable from the third grade until Dino’s passing in July of 2020. Lu and Dino were married at 20 and had two daughters, Antoinette (Stephen James) and Carolyn (Terry Albers). The pair shared 68 years of marriage together and were each other’s one and only since they were 16 years old. Lu and Dino together taught their family the true meanings of love, dedication, and faith. While her daughters were young and attended Our Lady of the Assumption School, Lu was an active parishioner at the church and volunteer at the school (even when her daughters were out of the classroom and no longer students!). She was a “room mother”, the school’s hot dog lady, a member of the Ladies Guild and a proud constituent of the Italian Catholic Federation. Lu was also the President of the Mr. and Mrs. Club. She was a loving mother and everyone’s biggest cheerleader. In 1976, after her daughters were grown, Lu moved to Rocklin after Dino fell in love with a house with a beautiful view on Topaz Avenue. They became parishioners at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church where Lu had active roles, serving on various committees including the Ladies Guild. She cooked and cleaned the church hall for various events and was the unofficial volunteer for anything the church (or any parishioner) needed. Lu’s unshakable faith in God was the foundation upon which she built her life. She loved to entertain, congregate, celebrate, and support others. Later in life, Lu taught “Faithformation” to aspiring Catholics and educated special needs children at Rocklin Elementary. One of her most treasured acts of volunteerism was the time she spent at Sutter Roseville Hospital, attending to the newborn babies in the maternity ward. From newborns to the elderly, Lu’s demeanor could put anyone at ease. Lu was a lover of Italian food, “hrustule cookies,” the color lavender, laughing, choir music, Dean Martin, her family, her friends, and her faith in God. To know Lu is to have laughed with or to have shared a kind word, whether as a close friend or stranger. She has forever changed the lives of her brother Tom, her four doting grandchildren, Kyle, Dina, Kelli and Danielle, and her five great-grandchildren, Siena, Lucca, Wyatt, Faith and Jack. Whether you knew her as Mom, Grammy, Gigi, sister, auntie, cousin or friend, Lu was the quintessential “homeroom mom” in your life. She was a constant light in others’ darkness, a tower of stability when others lost balance and an aspiration when others could not find hope. Lu will be remembered for all the heart she shared with her friends and family. She truly loved each of them – and if you knew her, you felt it. When her time came, she carried herself with dignity, strength and full of grace for those who went before her, most especially, the love of her life, Dino. Although our hearts are heavy, we will forever celebrate her life and will find comfort knowing that she is in heaven watching over us, just as she did while living. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 4450 Granite Drive, Rocklin, CA 95677, on February 15, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in support of the Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
