Judith Ann (Halberg) Jelinek

Judith “Judy” Ann Jelinek of Roseville CA, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2024, after a prolonged struggle with Alzheimer’s at the age of 86. Judy was born in Grafton, ND in 1938 to Oscar and Elvira Halberg. She was the youngest of 8 and predeceased by her siblings Lenore, Norman, Grace, Morris, Beverly, Donna and Opal. Judy was raised in Adams, ND where she attended school except for her first years in High School when she lived with her sister Donna in Van Nuys, CA after her mother died. She returned to Adams, ND for her last year of High School graduating in 1956. Her first job out of High School was as an Operator with Polar Telephone in Grafton. Then she met and married the love of her life Sidney, her husband of 68 years who will miss her greatly. After being married in 1956, they moved to Thief Little Falls MN where she worked a paper route with Sid. She then moved on to clerical work at the Agriculture Stabilization Conservation in Little Fall, MN. They made the Big Move to Roseville, CA in 1966 where she was the sole employee of Dr. McAnally for 13 years. She continued her medical office career working for Drs Ely, Simeon and Lorraine McGee. She happily retired at age 55. When Sid retired from the Sacramento Bee in 1996 – they traveled extensively in their 38 ft Motorhome throughout the United States (including Alaska), Canada & Baja. These were truly their “Golden Years” which they fully enjoyed. After seeing everything they wanted to see – they settled back down in Roseville spending time with family and friends. Judy was an avid quilter, embroider, and reader. Judy was not only a hard-working employee, she and Sid had three daughters early in their marriage. She was a dedicated mom to Tracey Johnson (Kent), Karen Jelinek and Kelly Burdine (Ken) who all attended Sierra Gardens, Eich middle school, and graduated from Oakmont High School. She then went on to be a wonderful Grandma to Lisa Lucia, McKenzie Helvick, Troy Porter, John Garcia, and Brianna Phillips. She was called Gigi (for Great Grandmother) by the next generation: Aiden & Hailey Lucia, Everett, Owen, & Wesley Helvick and Alexis Phillips. Wonderful memories of Judy will be a comfort to her whole family and her remaining friends. The family would like to invite you to honor Judy by sharing your stories and memories, large and small.
