Edmund (Ed) Cosca Diocson

With deep and heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of Edmund (Ed) Cosca Diocson on July 10, 2026, at the age of 86. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Aurora, with whom he shared 63 years of steadfast marriage; his sons Roman (Marilou), Emmanuel (Carol), and Edmund Jr. (Maria); his grandchildren Samantha (Bruce), Nicholas, Emily, Alex (Angela), and Isabella; and his great‑grandson Levi. He is also remembered by his sisters Nenita, Teresa, and Lourdes, and by many nieces and nephews. His passing follows closely the loss of his older sisters Myrna and Cecilia, deepening the family’s grief. Born in Capiz, Philippines, Edmund was the third of seven children of Esperanza Cosca, a devoted teacher, and Diosdado Diocson, a rice and coconut farmer, fisherman, keeper of small livestock, and respected landlord. Their lives shaped him profoundly. From his mother, he learned discipline and compassion; from his father, he inherited humility, perseverance, and a quiet reverence for the land. In later years, Edmund shared that his true passion was Agriculture — to work the land as his father once did — a dream that stayed close to him throughout his life. He studied Mechanical Engineering in Cebu City and built a career grounded in professionalism and integrity. In 1975, he brought his young family to Vancouver, later settling in Edmonton with his sisters Myrna and Nenita, where he began the work that would define his life. During the economic hardships of the 1980s, Edmund made significant sacrifices, often travelling far from home to find work in the United States. He applied his pipe‑support expertise to major industrial projects, including nuclear power stations in Pennsylvania (Susquehanna and Limerick/Pottstown), and energy and construction work in San Luis Obispo, San Francisco, and Houston, Texas. In Canada, he contributed to upgrader developments, pulp mill projects, and engineering work in Calgary, Vancouver, Hinton, and Boyle. Every step he took was for his family, and he devoted himself fully to their future. Warm‑hearted and gracious, Edmund formed lasting connections with ease. His refined singing voice — especially his fondness for Frank Sinatra — left a memorable impression on all who heard him. Throughout his life, Edmund found profound therapeutic peace in gardening, the closest expression of the agricultural life he longed for. With deep knowledge of trees, shrubs, and flowers, he tended his garden with patience and reverence, nurturing beauty with the same devotion he offered to his family.
