Sonia Clarissa Macandog Martires

April 5, 1967 - March 16, 2022

Sonia Clarissa, fondly called “sachiko” was born on April 5, 1967, and the third child of Antonio and Eden Castro Macandog of Naga City, Philippines. She had her elementary and high school education at a prestigious Catholic school (Universidad de Santa Isabel, USI) at the age of 16 she was a rotary exchange student and graduated high school at Seaside, Oregon, U.S.A. Upon her return to the Philippines, she pursued a BS in Nursing at her alma mater (USI). In 1989, at the age of 22, she came to the USA as a nurse and worked in Massachusetts, California. Later in Texas is where she met Noel Martires of Pampanga, Philippines whom she married on December 14, 1998 at Santo Domingo church, Intramuros Manila. From 1998 to 2003 her family lived in Omaha, Nebraska. In 2003, the family moved to Rocklin, CA where her husband was deployed at Beale Airforce Base, and has resided here ever since. Sonia was a kind sister to Annette, Dean, Xandra, and Jet. She leaves behind her devoted husband Noel, and loving children, Angela (23), Christina Joy (21), and Nathan (15). She is well loved and respected by her work family at her last workplace, Sutter Roseville, where she spent 18 years as an oncology and infusion center nurse. Her life was blessed by many friends not only at work, but also her "kababayan" who called her "manay". She is so loved and admired by many friends all over the country and world. Sonia, you lived a full life, had fun with family and friends, and worked with zeal and compassion. You did your best and ran the race you called life. May you be blessed with God's grace! She returned to the bosom of our lord on Wednesday evening, March 16, 2022.
