She was preceeded in death by her grandson Ross , a sister Ruth Coulson and a brother Thomas Slavin. Jean was very talented and resourceful. This started from the time she was a young girl as she learned to wire homes from her electrician father. She spent many hours working by his side which left her with a strong work ethic and a can do attitude. Jean made her own wedding dress and then out of necessity tore it apart to adorn her first home with lace curtains. She was an excellent seamstress, quilter, artist, needleworker, upholsterer and house painter. She could repair anything. Jean had a very happy fun personality that garnered her many friends. She lent a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Jean worked for Kaiser Hospital for over 30 years. Upon her retirement, she focused on volunteer work with the Rocklin Historical Society. She assisted them with many projects and developed extensive museum archives. In 2019 she was awarded the Pioneer Ruhkala Award for this volunteerism. Jean competed in the Bay to Breakers event in San Francisco with her husband Gary on many occasions and in 2014 was awarded a Bronze medal in her age group of 75-79. Jean spent many years golfing at Sunset Whitney Country Club in Rocklin where she achieved 6 holes in one, a club record. Her husband Gary, also an avid golfer, celebrated her success with great pride. Services will be private. Donations in her memory can be made to the Rocklin Historical Society.
