James Taylor Gordillo

It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of James Taylor Gordillo, who departed this life on Friday, July 5, 2026. Known affectionately to all as Taylor, his vibrant spirit and loving heart touched countless lives. Taylor’s journey began on December 23, 1992, at 7:00 PM, in Castro Valley, California. His early years were marked by a series of moves across Northern California, shaping a resilient and adaptable young man. After spending his first year and a half in Fremont, his family relocated to Fairfield, where he attended Nelda Mundy Elementary School. His formative education continued in Roseville, where he distinguished himself at Catherine Gates Elementary and Buljan Middle School before graduating from Roseville High School. He briefly pursued higher education at Sierra College, always seeking to broaden his horizons. For over a year, Taylor found true happiness and purpose in his work at Leisure Supplies in Sacramento. He immersed himself in his role at the pool company, genuinely enjoying the camaraderie and the sense of accomplishment his work provided. His dedication and positive attitude made him a valued member of the team. Though he never married or had children of his own, Taylor’s capacity for love was boundless. He embraced his role as a devoted uncle to Lylah and Elijah, the children of his late sister, Shana. He cherished their weekly visits, pouring immense love, joy, and guidance into their lives, creating a bond that was deeply meaningful to him. He was truly a doting figure in their world. Every friend that Taylor made was his best friend. Music was the very rhythm of Taylor’s soul, a diverse and eclectic soundtrack that mirrored his unique personality. While the legendary Iron Maiden held a special, cherished place in his heart, his musical palate stretched far and wide, encompassing the timeless grooves of Earth, Wind and Fire and Chicago, the raw energy of Linkin Park, the lyrical artistry of rap, and the pulsating beats of electronica. He was known for accompanying his parents to various concerts, often being the youngest enthusiast in the audience, soaking in every note and performance. A particularly memorable evening saw him attending a Chicago concert with his mother; on their drive home, he playfully surprised her by putting on Karen Carpenter’s classic “Close to You,” a moment that beautifully encapsulated his quirky humor, broad taste, and the deep, affectionate connection he shared with his mother. Beyond music, Taylor was a gifted artist, his detailed drawings revealing a creative mind and a keen eye for beauty. He found joy and camaraderie in competitive video games with his closest friends, and he delighted in the suspense and thrill of scary movies. Yet, beneath these varied interests lay a remarkably gentle, compassionate, and deeply loving young man. Taylor’s essence was one of profound kindness; he was an emotional soul with a boundless capacity for empathy. He was a cherished son, a devoted brother, a beloved nephew, a doting uncle, and a treasured grandson, leaving an indelible mark of warmth and affection on every life he touched. Taylor leaves behind a loving family who will forever carry his memory in their hearts: his devoted parents, Laura and Jim Gordillo; his brother-in-law, Anthony Ontai; his niece Lylah and nephew Elijah (children of his late sister Shana); and Anthony’s children, Angelique and Isaiah. He is also survived by his aunt Denise, and cousins Josh and Elliott, along with numerous other aunts, uncles, and cousins from his father’s side of the family. Taylor was preceded in death by his beloved sisters, Cori Gordillo and Shana Ontai, and his only grandmother, Concha. His spirit will live on in the memories shared by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
